The three final stages of Becoming !

Man is given a choice by the All Wise Energy. Man can choose any path and the three major paths are,

Upward Movement
Arrested status
Downward lapse

The upward movement is the master movement of Nature. It is that which pulls us from Death to Immortality and realises in this body of earth the luminous Kingdom of Heaven.

The arrested status is a state where there is not much spiritual progress. Man is satisfied with material achievements, which do not give everlasting happiness. If perfect, it is only a transient perfection.

The downward lapse is coming down to the level of animals.

These three states are known in Transcendental Philosophy as Uttama, Madhyama and Adhama. As we choose, the Lord shall fulfill Himself in us.

These are the secret of the Vedas, the secret words, Ninya Vachamsi, sage wisdoms which utter their inner meaning to the Seer. The Secret words spoken to the purified in Soul and awakened in Knowledge.

Rather arise, transcend thyself, become thyself, the whole nature of man is to be more than himself. We find that every state of existence has a force which drives to transcend itself.

Of Universal Love

The Seers sang the glory of Universal Love
Love was highlighted in Poetry
In Brahma Sutra and Upanishads
Universal Love is all in all !

Those who follow Wisdom & Love
And renounce the fruit of all action
They tear asunder the knot of Samsara
And reach the State Eternal !

This has been revealed to thee
To thy discriminative intellect
Know that this is the Path Celestial
Which the Wise Ones tread !

Of Positive and Negative Qualities !

Pride, arrogance and Vanity
Anger, roughness all these
Are negative qualities; Ignorance
And vaingloriousness too !

The negative qualities are called
Asuri Sampath, they bind the soul
To the sublunar world

In Mythology they are depicted
As Asuras, demons, fiends
Who bind Man to Hell
To Peacelessness and Misery.

Truth, righteousess, peace, Love
And the intellect discriminative
These are the major qualities five
Known as Daivi Sampat
They are the Five Pandavas !

Positive qualities liberate
Negative qualities do bind

Pride , strength, vanity
Lust, anger and Ego
The Renunciant has to renounce these
In order to be eligible
For Self Actualisation, the Goal !

The aspirant, established in the Self,
Never is sorrowful nor elated
Seeing the Absolute Self in all
He gets the unalloyed Universal Love

Only via Universal Love canst thou know Me
Knowing this the wise ones transcend !

Seated in the hearts of all am I
Ethics, Cognition all flow from Me !
I am He whom the fourfold Veds seek to know
I am the revealer of the Vedanta !

Transience of sensory pleasures !

All these pleasures sensory
Contain with them seed of Sorrow !
They have a beginning and an end
The wise indulge not in them !

This plane of Sorrow can be overcome
By Equanimity of Mind !
The sinless Absolute dwells in Unity
And the Seers also in the Absolute

Know that Veda is triune
Be without the triune attributes !
Without dualities, without attributes three
Without thoughts of welfare material !

Nature is composed of three
Attributes; satwas, rajas, thamas
Divinity, humanity, bestiality
Know Nature to be threefold !
In Freud Id, Ego, Superego,
In Ayur, Vata, Pitta and Kapha
In Christianity Father, Son, Holy Ghost,
In Hinduism, Om, Tat, Sat
The Threefold Deity of Godhead !
In Wisdom, Life, Mind and Matter
The Lower Trilogy of Truth
Existence, Consciousness, Beatitude
The Higher Trilogy of Truth !
All represented by the Hexagram
With its two great triangles
The upward pointing triangle
The Higher Trilogy of Truth
The downward pointing triangle
The Lower Trilogy of Truth
The Lower Trilogy being
Instrument of Being-Knowledge-Bliss!

The Intuitive Sciences, the ornament of Hearing !

Donating is the ornament of the Hand
Truth is the ornament of Speech
The scientia intuitiva is the ornament of Hearing
All these should combine in the Initiate !

Hastasya bhooshanam danam
Kandasya bhooshanam satyam
Srothasya bhooshanam sastram
Bhooshanai kim karothi !

Wisdom is conferror of Fame !

Wisdom is the teacher of teachers & the only bestower of
immortal fame.

Veiled wealth is Wisdom, the only true wealth

The sole conferror of Fame absolute, the Guru of Gurus !

The only relative one can rely, the greatest Celestial
Deity,

All bow before Her Majesty, Saint, Savage & Sage !

The philosophic sources of Evolution

Even though the world knows that Charles Darwin was the founder of the Law of Evolution, it was his grandfather Dr Erasmus Darwin, who first promulgated the concept in his book, Zoonomia.

He was the founder of the Lunar Society in 1764. The members met monthly at the time of the Full Moon and hence the name. The group consisted of intellectuals like Ben Franklin, Mathew Boulton, James Watt etc.

Dr Erasmus wrote Zoonomia in which he expounded the doctrine of evolution. Another scientist John Locke propounded the Law of Evolution, deriving it from the Hindu doctrine of Reincarnation or Metempsychosis.

This doctrine of Metempsychosis or Reincarnation was taken to England by the East India Company. The British Royal Society endorsed it. John Locke studied Metempsychosis and developed his evolutionary ideas.

Indian Mythology has it that the First Incarnation of the Lord was as a Fish, symbolising the evolutionary principle that Life came from the sea and that our primordial ancestors were aquatic.

The Law of Evolution is related to the Law of Becoming. The Human Man evolves into the Divine Man, by the process of evolution. There is an evolution of Consciousness behind the evolution of the species.

Eugenics, the self direction of human Evolution !

Eugenics was founded by Sir Francis Galton, a cousin of Darwin. Eu means good and gene born, meaning that good human beings can be produced.

Shaw said man is a failure as a political animal and that there is necessity of starting a new race.

Eugenics is a system of Social Philosophy which advocates the betterment of human heredity. Eugenics has been regarded by many as an altruistic stance of society, to create healthier and more intelligent people and a saver of resources.

Eugenics is highly controversial. Proponents of Eugenics include Shaw, Margaret Sanger, H W Wells, Keynes, Kellog and Emile Zola.

Eugenics proposed means of achieving these goals are selective breeding, genetic engineering, genetic counseling & in vitro fertilization.

The final objective of Philosophy !

The final goal of Philosophy is the unfoldment of the Ultimate Truth. Philosophy normally provides an intellectual coviction which falls short of the direct realisation of Absolute Truth.

Vedanta is not a science which deals with intellectual abstractions, even though intellectual abstractions from the basis of all philosophy.

If Vedanata is the Science of Being, then Yoga is the Art of Living. Intellectual conviction alone is not necessary for Self Actualisaton. An aspirant has to undergo rigorous Yogic sadhana to arrive at Truth, under the guidance of a bona fide Divine Master, who himself has undergone the inner war and actualised Truth within himself.

The Maya of transcendental philosophy !

The male component of the Ultimate is Brahman
The female component is Maya.

Brahman and Maya, Purusha and Prakriti, Shiva and Shakti - these are the male and female components of the Ultimate in Indian Philosophy.

Brahman is Absolute
She is Relative
Brahman is Infiite
She is finite
Brahman is Formless
She is all forms
Brahman is One
She is Innumerable
Brahman is Being
She is Becoming

She is not the Absolute Evil of the Western conception ( Satan ). She is the prius of the phenomenal world, the Enchantress of resources infinite. She embodies Science, as Science is knowledge of the Relative. She is the fountainhead of unreason and irrationality.

Science kills Nescience (Knowledge of Brahman kills Ignorance).

Unlike Satan, She carries within Herself the secret of her death!

Brahman, the Absolute became the Lord and She became the Mother Divine. This is the symbolism behind the religions of India !

She is the Veil Divine which hides the Lord, as per His statement

Piercing the Veil Divine of phenomenality
Which hideth Me is difficult indeed.
But those who consecrate to Me
Pierce it and pass beyond !

Vedanta, the Science of Being !

The systematised knowledge of Nature is Science. All sciences study Being.

For instance, physics is the science of Being as Matter. Maths, the science of Being as Number. Chemistry, the science of Being as qualities etc. But the Scientia Prima, Vedanta, studies Being as Being, in its pure state.

Many have walked the Path of Self Actualisation. Many have intuited Truth. Their experiences of Absolute Truth have been recorded as the Upanishads, as the Kabalah, as Geetha etc. These experiences of Truth are called Sruthi ( Vedas ).

In order to actualise Truth, a threefold criterion of Truth has been promulgated.

The experiences of the Seers of Wisdom ( Sruthi )
Logic ( Yukti )
Self Realisation ( Atmanubhoothi )

Aurobindo actualised Absolute Truth, only to know that what he actualised was exactly as it was described in the Upanishads !

Reason is undoubtedly a helpful guide and when it is supplanted by a suprarational Intuition, Truth becomes experiential.

Reason is symbolised as male and Intuition as female. In the Divine Comedy, Dante represents the male intellect and Beatrice, female Intuition.

The great hold of Vedanta upon the intelligentia all over the world is due to a mingling of Intuition and Reason.

The Ashtavakra Geetha is a great Vedantic treatise. King Janaka, a philosopher King, is initiated into the mysteries of Vedanta by Ashtavakra, a Seer. Ashtavakra tells him that all this is a mirage of the Mind and that the Absolute Self is the only Reality.

That Consciousness Bliss Thou art
Upon whom this Universe is superimposed !
Like the blueness in the sky
Know that and be ever happy !

The Universe follows the Laws of the Self !

Man follows the laws of the Earth
Earth follows the laws of Heaven
Heaven follows the laws of the Self
And Self follows the laws of His intrinsic nature !

All mysticism points out that the Inner Reality is hidden.

An Indian mystic by the name of Bodhidharma travelled to China and Dhyan ( Meditation ) became the Chinese Ch'an and the Japanese Zen ! Zen followers worship the metaphysical entity ( Bodhi Dharma ) which to them represents the Absolute Bodhi Essence. The Chinese share this doctrine of Absolute Bodhi Essence with the Indian Buddhist tradition !

Education, a Self Development Process !

Education is derived from Educare, which means to develop from within. So it is a Self Development Process.

What Nature has kept and buried

Is the Immortal, Unborn Self !

The unfolding of this Self

Is the purpose of Education

Education, therefore, is not indoctrination, but a gradual self developmental process, which can take man to the Ultimate Summit of Self Actulisation

Education indeed is Immortal ( Amritham Thu Vidya ).

Thou art Education

Thou Art That to be Known

Thou Art the Form of Education

.. thus sang the Seers of the Veda

Vidyas Thvam

Veda Roopasthwam

Vedaneeyasthvam Eva Cha

The Lord is the Alpha and the Omega, the starting point of the ignorant and the Crown of the Scientist !

The New Age or the Age of Aquarius !

The New Age has arrived ! The New Age of Aquarius, with its resplendent promise of Scientific Enlightenment !

Hair's song announced the Age of Aquarius

When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars!

This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius
The age of Aquarius
Aquarius!
Aquarius!

The Vernal Equinox precedes one degree in every 72 years. The Vernal Equinoctial Point after moving through Pisces is now in Aquarius, ushering in a scientific Age of Enlightenment.

Gone are the dogmas which graced the Piscean Age. The Dark Ages were characterised by the Piscean Age, where the dogmas of Theology dominated mankind. Bruno was burnt alive, Galileo arrested, Darwin and Russell persecuted.

The New Age of Aquarius will usher in an area of Peace and prosperity. Let us hope that there will be a World Government and a World Church where all can pray and live in peace !

The Net itself is a boon of the New Age. The Information Age, the Age of the Internet, is another synonym for New Age !

The Science of the Base of all that is, the Absolute is the basic Science, the fundamental Science, the supreme Science, the Master Science. Now the NAM ( New Age Movement ) has the message of Absolute Unity behind it and is secular & universally diffused over the earth’s surface. & its basic underlying philosophy emphasises Divine Unity & Gnosticism. Gnosticism is an ancient philosophy stating that Divine essence is the highest reality, and that the Self of man is actually this Essence. Behind the phenomenal world is the Transcendent Reality which Intuition alone can see ). It bears a remarkable resemblance to the Universal Religion that H.G. Wells
predicted would one day take over the world.

New Age - A Universal Philosophy

NAM is a regeneration of divine values and has conquered the West intellectually. Western culture is currently experiencing a phenomenal shift - sociological, spiritual & ideological. It's a secular, multi-cultural, multi-religious synthesis, of the Oriental mystical philosophies, mainly Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism & Western Occultism, emphasising Holism, the doctrine that Reality is organically One ( now taught in American Universities after Einstein's Theory of Relativity ). The New Paradigm is Monism ( All is One ), Pantheism ( All is Divine ) & Holism ( The Whole is Real ). Holistic Medicine, Transcendental Meditation, Yoga, Zen, Pranic Therapy, Tantra, Astrology, Numerology, Gemology, Vedic Foods etc are all New Age practices ! There are 6.3 million New Age websites ! The East and the West, the vertical and the horizontal means of gaining knowledge have met and have become One !

David Williams declared that the Aquarian Age arrived in 1844, with the dawn of the Babism Movement. According to him the Aquarian Age is associated with three decans, Libra, Gemini and Aquarius. We are in the Libran decan of the Aquarian Age. That explains why the world has been affected by wars, due to Libra and revolutions, due to Aquarius. Socialism, Communism, Humanism etc are products of the New Age. The massive influx of technology is associated due to Aquarius. Also Enlightenment. The Industrial Revolution, the Computer and the Cybernetic Revolution are also attributable to the Age of Aquarius. People will become more impersonal, but will be more humane and altruistic. Revelation of Truth and Expansion of Consciousness are the hallmarks of the New Age

Almost one billion believe in Astrology and more than 4 billion believe in Philosophy ! NAM will unite all under a World Government, a World Religion, a World Currency ( the globo ) & a World Market !

The Eightfold Verse about the Master !

Sankara, the Apostle of Oneness, had prescribed the Fourfold Yoga for Cosmic
Union. He advocated the traditional Method of studying under a Guru
for Self Actualisation. Mortals consider Self Actualisation to be a " so
elusive and so distant a Goal", but the effort is worth it as the Divine
Crown is indeed priceless !

He composed poems, the Eightfold Verse about the Master ( Dakshina Moorthy
Ashatakam ), extolling the Lord who had come to him in the form of the
Master. Indian tradition holds that the Master is the representative of the
Lord, or rather the Lord Himself !

The six main Sciences and the six auxiliary sciences are difficult to comprehend.
One can go on learning these Sastras. There is so much symbolism concealed in Mythology, Poetry and Art.

There are two types of meaning - the outer and the inner ( Bahya abhyantara bhedath dwivida ).

The stories of Krishna, Rama, Jesus we all know. The inner meaning is known to none. Why did the great poets write such mythologic stories? Behind these stories they concealed great mystic truths. These mystic truths are known only to the Iniitiate, to the Guru and it is the Guru who imparts the mystic essence to the student ! For instance, the ten heads of the demon Ravana symbolise Lust, greed, anger, pride, jealousy, gluttony, mind, intellect, subconscient & Ego, which have to be annihilated for Self Actualisation !

Unto Him, who is indeed all this
Who has manifested as the Triad
Universe, Ego, Supreme Relative
As the Teacher Supreme to teach
Verities divine ineffable
The Lord of Wisdom great
The Lustrous Form facing South
Unto Him, be this millionfold saluation !

Viswam Dharpana Drushyamana Nagari,
Thulyam Nijantargatham,
Pasyann Athmani Mayaya Bahirivoth,
Bhutham yatha Nidraya,
Ya Sakshath Kuruthe Prabodha Samaye,
Swathmanameva Adwayam,
Thasmai sree Guru murthaye nama idham,
Sree  Dhakshinamoorthaye.

Similar to the mirror image of a town
So is this Universe seen in Self !
What exists outside is inside
The living lordly regal Self !
Ultimately this is actualised
In the state of Enlightenment
That I am That Non-dual Self
To Thee whose Grace makes Enlightenment possible
To the Lord in the form of my Master, I bow !

Beejasyanthari Vankuro jagath idham,

Sree  Dhakshinamoorthaye.

The Universe existed as seed
Prior to Thy Manifestation !
Universe exists in the Universal Mind
Conditioned by Space, Time, Causality
Thy Manifestation is manifold
Like the Yogi who manifests at will,
Thou manifested this Universe
To Thee whose Grace bestoweth Enlightenment
To the Lord in the form of my Master, I bow !

Yasyaiva Sphuranam Sadathmakamasath,

Yath Sakshath Karanath Bhavenna Punara,

Thasmai Sree Guru Murthaye nama idham,
Sree  Dhakshinamoorthaye.

Thou who exists as the Effulgence Supreme
Who alone shines in this World of Appearance
Thou manifests as Teacher Supreme
Who instructs students " That Art Thou "
Whose instruction can redeem
One from this ocean of worldliness
And the cycles of birth and death
To Thee whose Grace giveth Enlightenment
To the Lord in the form of my Master, I bow !

Deham Pranam Api Indryanyapi Chalaam,

Stree balandha jadopamasthvaha mithi,
Brandha brusham vadhina,
Maya Sakthi vilasa kalpitha maha,
Vyamoha samharine,
Thasmai sree guru murthaye nama idham,
Sree  Dhakshinamoorthaye.

Some philosopers think the body is Truth
Others intellect and the Soul
Others Empitness and Void
Are they not similar to the ignorant ?
The blind, women and children ?
Ignorance is only destroyed by Thee
Cosmic Illuison is destroyed by Thee
To Thee whose Grace conferreth Enlightenment
To the Lord in the form of my Master, I bow !

Rahu Grastha Divakarendu Sadrusho,

Yo abhooth Sushuptha Pumaan,
Pragaswapsaamithi Prabodha Samaye,
Yaa prathyabhignayathe,
Thasmai sree guru murthaye nama idham,
Sree  Dhakshinamoorthaye.

Similar to Sol and Luna after being eclipsed
Know that they are existing still !
Simlar to the dreamer whose dream
Created problems galore for him
Realises that all was but a dream !
Feels blissfuls after waking up
So too the aspirant spiritual
Ultimatelty realises " I am He "
To Thee whose Grace imparteth Enlightenment
To the Lord in the form of my Master, I bow !

Yo Mudraya Bhadraya,
Thasmai sree guru murthaye nama idham,
Sree  Dhakshinamoorthaye

To Thee, who shines and exhibits
By the sacred Chinmudra of the hand
That He exists as the Self in all
As the supreme, lordly Self
Everlasting and Unchanging
Witnessing youth, childhood, old age,
Even during the triune states relative
Dreaming, waking, dreamless sleep !
To Thee whose Grace bestoweth Enlightenment
To the Lord in the form of my Master, I bow !

Viswam Pasyathi Karya Karana Thaya,

Sree  DHakshinamoorthaye.

During the states of waking and dream
Diversity holds absolute sway !
World is Cause and Effect
We are different from the Lord
Teacher and taught are different
Father and son are different
Confounded by Illusion
All see great diversity
Unable to see Unity divine !
Thou destroyest Diversity
And confers experience of Unity !
To Thee whose Grace bestoweth Enlightenment
To the Lord in the form of my Master, I bow !

Bhoorambaamsya  Anilo Ambhara,
Maharnadho Himamsu puman,
Ithyabhathi Characharathmakam idham,
Yasyaiva Murthyashtakam,
Nanyath kinchana Vidhyathe  Vimrusathaam,
Yasmath Parasmath vibho,
Thasmai sree guru murthaye nama idham,
Sree  Dhakshinamoorthaye.

To the sake of the Absolute Self
Universe shines as Self
Which is mutable and Immutable?
Which is mobile and Immobile ?
Of water, earth, air, fire, ether
Soul, Sol and Luna
Also to those in search of Truth
The mystery of the Universe and find
That the Absolute is everywhere !
That it is Being Knowledge Bliss
The eternal triad which the Universe is
And which we are in actuality
To Thee whose Grace bestoweth Enlightenment
To the Lord in the form of my Master, I bow !

The Hymn of the Kundalini !

This is the best music video of Devi Sooktham or the Hymn of the Kundalini.

The Mother Divine exists in her microcosmic form as the Kundalini, the Serpent Power coiled in humans. When She rises to the Crown Chakra, Man experiences Cosmic Consciousness !

Her rise is the object of all Yoga and Tantra. Listening to this magnificent Music video is conducing to Cosmic Consciousness. This song is sung by that Master Singer, Anuradha Podwal.

There were two people, one a businessman and another a King, who both lost their businesses. They wandered lone in a forest and met the Great Seer Markandeya. Markandeya comforted them saying that there was nothing to worry about. " This world is ephemeral and evanescent. Therefore seek thy Self " is the message of Vedic Philosophy ( Anithyam asukham lokam imam prapya bhajaswamam )

Both of them became mystics . The Wisdom of Transcendence was imparted to them by Markandeya, who was a master of all the 12 Positive sciences.

She is the Shakti who transforms the physical mentality of Man to her supramentality. She is the Force associated with Consciousness, the Relative of the Absolute, the Finite related to the Infinite, the Determinate associated with the Indeterminate. She is the all in all. " All this is Me " She says" and there is nothing existing outside Me " ( Sarvam Khalvidam Evaham Nanyadasthi Sanathanam ).

A luminous heart of the Unknown is She
A power of Silence in the depths of God
She is the Force, the inevitable Word,
The magnet of our difficult ascent
The Sun from which we kindle all our Suns,
The Light that gleams from the unrealised Vasts
The Joy that beckons us from the Impossible ( Aurobindo ).

She is the Creatrix, She is the dispensatrix, She is the Mediatrix and the Executrix of the absolute machanism of Universal Justice. Listening to this Music Video can definitely awaken our Kundalini !

The Song of the Overself !

Who am I ? This is the question mankind has been asking from times immemmorial.

Am I the body-mind-intellect complex ? Have I any reality beyond the senses five ? Is there a God ? Is there a God outside ? Or is He inside ?

And what is this Bhakti or devotion ? The best definition of Devotion comes from Sankara, who defined it as Self Enquiry. ( Swa Swaroopasya Anusandhanam Bhakthiriti Abhidheeyate ).

In the Upanishads Reality is defined by a series of negatives because the negative is less limiting than the Positive. To arrive at Reality, the Upanishadic Rishies prescribed the Method of Negation !

The Upanishadic Method of Negation is Neti Neti, meaning that this is Finite, that is Finite, whereas Reality in Infinite. When everything is denied, there is one thing which no man can deny - " I ", " Self " or Consciousness.

Thade Kova Shishtah ( that which remains after Negation )
Sivah Kevaloham ( I am Consciousness Bliss ).

I am neither the mind nor the senses
The Fourfold Veds nor Sacred Places,
I am not the the Elements Fivefold
The Concentric Sheaths Five
The Tissue Elements Sevenfold
Neither Time nor Space
Exist in Me !
Nor the Four Goals of Life
The Fourfold Yog or Tantra great
I have neither pleasure or pain
I am pure Being
By whom all things be !
Neither Ego nor any sense of Mineness
Integral Consciousness am I

Neither father nor mother am I
Of the nature of Transcendence
That which remains after Negation
That Sole Consciousness am I !

The Song of Overself ( contd )

This is Nirvana Shatakam or six verses composed by the Master of Oneness, Bhagavan Sankara. Listening to these verses can definitely elevate our Consciousness !

In every human, Conscience exists as Vox Dei or the Voice of the Self. This poem is the Voice of the Self. This Voice of the Self can be heard during Meditation. Srooyathe ithi Sruthi or that which was heard in higher states of Consciousness came to be known as the Vedas. Be still and Know. You can hear this voice. This is the Voice of your own Self ! This is your Song !

This is reminiscent of Swinburne's Hertha

I am that which began
Out of Me the years roll
Out of Me God and Man
I am equal and whole

For Truth only is living
Truth only is whole
His for only giving
Man's polestar and pole !

Let us hear this Eastern Swinburne. Or was Swinburne the Western Sankara ?

Mano Buddhyahankara Chittani Na Aham
Na Cha Shrothra Jihve na cha ghrana nethre
Na cha Vyoma Bhoomir na tejo na vayuh
Chidananda Roopah Shivoham Shivoham

Who am I ? Neither the mind, intellect or ego
Nor ear, tongue or the eyes
Space, light or wind I am not
I am of the nature of Consciousness
He am I, He am I !

Na cha pranasamjno na vai Pancha Vayuh
Na cha Saptha Dhathur na va Pancha Koshah
Na Vak Pani Padam na cho Pastha Payu
Chidananda Roopah Shivoham Shivoham

Neither the fivefold winds nor Life-Force
The Sevenfold tissue elements I am not
Nor am I the sensory organs
Nor the organs of generation and excretion
I am of the nature of Consciousness
He am I, He am I !

Na Me Dhvesha Ragau Na Me Lobha Mohau
Madho naiva me naiv matsarya Bhavah
Na Dharmo Cha Chartho Na Kamo Na Mokshah
Chidananda Roopah Shivoham Shivoham

Neither hatred or love I possess
Nor attachment or greed
The Four Goals of Life I am not
( Wealth, Ethics, Love , Liberation )
I am of the nature of Consciousness
He am I, He am I !

Na Punyam Na Papam na Saukhyam Na Dukham
Na Manthro Na Theertham Na Veda Na Yajnah
Aham Bhojanam Naiva Bhojyam Na Bhoktha
Chidananda Roopah Shivoham Shivoham

I am devoid or sins or merit
Pleasures or pain
Sacred chants I am not
Nor the holy waters
I am not the Vedas
Nor Yajnas or Homa
I am not the eaten
Nor the eating
Nor the eater
I am of the nature of Consciousness
He am I, He am I !

Na Mrithyur na shanka na me Jathi Bhedhah
Pitha Naiva Me Naiva Matha Na Janma
Na Bhadhur Na Mithram Guru Naiva Shishyah
Chidananda Roopah Shivoham Shivoham

I am devoid of caste or creed
The fear of death is not in me
No birth, no parents, no birth
No friends, no relatives
No Guru, no disciple

I am of the nature of Consciousness
He am I, He am I !

Aham Nirvikalpo Nirakara Roopo
Vibhuth Vacha Sarvathra Sarve Indriyanam
Na Va Sangatham naiva Mukhtir Na Bandhah
Chidananda Roopah Shivoham Shivoham

Formless am I
Without any agitations
Transcending the senses
Transcending the mind
I exist for ever
Boundless as Space
No bondage, no release

I am of the nature of Consciousness
He am I, He am I

Let us strive for Enlightenment !

The mere theoretical statement that we are potentially divine does not save us from the problems of life., when Life's problems overwhelm us!

There was a student who learnt Vedanta, the Science of Being and declared somewhat egotistically Aham Brahmasmi, that I am the Universal Truth and all this is My mental image. After some days an excruciating stomach ache gripped him and he began to cry. We are like him. Crying Brahmams, crying Universal Truths !

Jesus was crying on the Cross " Eli, Eli, Lama Sabachthani " " My God, My God. why hast Thou forsaken me?." One unkind gentleman therefore defined Christ as one who cries. He who cries is Christ !

Life is difficult, life is strife, said Buddha and the first truth is of Sorrow, so be not mocked.

So we all need an Escapist Heaven and only three options are left for us. Alcohol, suicide or Enlightenment. Alcoholism and suicide have been widely condemned as negative. ( Freud discovered that all accidents are not accidents, but suicides. But suicide is sin, a violation of the Law " Thou shalt not kill". ) Enlightenment is the only positive escapism !

Ayur Ksheenam na janathi
Thasmat Jagrata Jagrata ( Sankara )

No one is aware of the loss of Ayus ( longevity )
Therefor strive, strive for Enlightenment !

Be not egotistic with wealth, people or youth
In a second, Time, the All Devourer can destroy all !
Know that all this is a dream in Mind Cosmic
Therefore seek thy Self, O Noble One !

Ma kuru dhana jana youvana garvam
Harathi Nimeshath Kala Sarvam
Maya mayam idam akhilam hithva
Brahma padam thvam pravisha vidithva

( Sankara )

We are human beings, composite creatures. Buddha is our positive aspect, Mara is our negative aspect. Let us realise, like Lord Buddha, that Mara is an aspect of ourselves. Let us overcome him !

Buddhist Philosophy is similar to Advaita. Sankara was known as the hidden Buddhist as he said the even God is Illusory.

There is no Bhakti Yoga or Bridal Mysticism in Buddhism. It is the path to Enlightenment

When asked of God, Buddha maintained a dignified silence. He said

Om Amithya ! measure not with words
The Immeasurable; nor sink the string of thought
Into the Fathomless; he who aks errs
He who answers errs, say nought ! ( The Light of Asia )

The First Noble Truth, said Buddha, is Sorrow. Sorrow is the Existential Force of this world. Sarvam Dukham, Sarvam Shoonyam, Sarvam Kshanikam, everything is Sorrow, everything is Zero, everything is evanescent.

The First Truth is of Sorrow, be not mocked
The Life that ye prize is a long drawn agony
Only its pains abide, its pleasures are
Like the birds which race and fly

Ask thee of the sick, the mourners , ask of him
Who tottereth on his staff, lone and forlorn
Liketh thee life ? These say the babe is wise
That weepeth being born ! ( The Light of Asia )

The Second Noble Truth is Sorrow's cause.

The second is Sorrow's cause
Which grief spring not from itself, but from desire?
Senses and things perceived mingle and light
Passion's quick spark of fire. ( Light of Asia )

It is desire that binds man to the sublunar world, desire which is the real cheat.

The third Noble Truth is Sorrow's ceasing. The solution is Enlightenment, as man withdraws within himself and overcomes his negative aspect.

The Fourth Noble Truth is Enlightenment. Unto Nirvana ! In Nirvana you curl yourself up in Being, in the stillness of the stillness that stillness is !

Hymns to Being & Becoming - Purusha Sooktam & Sree Sooktam

The Purusha is the Divine Spark in the human body. ( Puram vasathi ithi purushah ). He is the enjoyer of both happiness and sorrow. He is the Being and She, Prakriti, is the Becoming.

The Purusha Sooktham is one of the best hymns about Purusha, the Supreme Being, who along with His consort, Prakriti, is all this.

It is said that Purusha enveloped the earth on all sides, with thousands of heads, feet and hands.

All this is Purusha only, all that has been and all that will be. The visible and invisible Universes are He. His greatness is that He is more than the visible. The visible Universe is only one fourth of Purusha. Rest are like the invisible part of a submerged iceberg.

In the beginning, Purusha lay submerged in Inconscience. Says the Rig Veda " In the beginning darkness was hidden by darkness and all this was one big ocean of Inconscience. Universal Being was concealed by fragmentation".

Sree Sooktham is a Hymn to Becoming, to Nature, to the Mother of all that is. She is Sree or Lakshmi, the wife of the Preservative Aspect of Godhead. She is Prosperity Personified. Listening to Sree Sooktam is believed to bring in unexpected prosperity, while listening to Purusha Sooktam can elevate one spiritually.

These two Sookthams are superbly sung by B Vasanta.

Happy hearing and may you be blessed by Prosperity !

An Octet to the Remover of Obstacles

This is an octet to the Remover of Obstacles, Ganesha. His elephant head symbolises the Macrocosm and human body, the Microcosm. That which is on Above is that which is on Below ! He represents the Miracle of Unity.

The deities of the Hindu Pantheon are the impulses of Creative Intelligence. He is the remover of all impediments and He can easily remove all hindrances and grant victory to the devotee. We are all battling the barriers to success every day and He can effortlessly remove those barriers and grant success to us. Hence He becomes an important Deity !

This Octet has the power of not only arousing the Kundalini, but of removing obstacles in our daily activities and granting success.

May He remove all obstacles in your life.

The Song of the Inner Sun !

This magnificent song about the Inner Sun, the Divine Solar Consciousness, is the Aditya Hridayam, a branch of the great Epic, Ramayana.

The Aditya Hridayam is the Great Secret imparted by the Seer Agastya to Lord Rama, when Rama was afflicted by enemies.

Tato yuddha pari srantam Samare Cintaya Sthitam
Ravanam Cagrato drustva yuddhaya Samupasthitam

Daivataisca Samagamya drastu = mabhyagatoranam|
Upagamyabra Vidrama magastyo bhagavanrsih

The Great Agastya, saw Lord Rama crestfallen in battle. In order to save Him
from His depression, the sage adviced this " Song of the Inner Sun"

Rama Rama Mahabaho srunu guhyam Sanatanam
Yena Sarva Nareehnvatsa Samare Vijayisyasi

This is the Secret of all secrets
By which you can win over your enemies
Those who have worshipped the Inner Sun
Have been blessed by Victory !.

Aditya Hrudayam punyam Sarva satru Vinasanam

Should be recited always
As it is the bestower of Grace
And destroyer of enemies manifold !

This Great Song of Songs
Describes the Glorious Inner Sun !
He is Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma,
He is the creator of the seasons,
He is Sol, He is Soorya
When rising He is Brahma
At Mid Day He is Shiva
At Dusk He is Vishnu

He destroys Darkness
The darkness of Nescience
The Ignorance which is destructive
The Ignorance which is this world !
The Light shines not in Ignorance
It will only shine by His Grace !

He is the Infinite Sky of Consciousness
He is the Sun of Self Realisation !

He destroys all enemies
The hostile forces that lurk in Man
He conferreth Self Actualisation
He is the lord of the Logos entire !

With His Grace, thou shalt overcome
Ravana and his legions !
He is the Judge supreme
Who judges all by merit !

By listening to these 31 verses, we can activate our Kundalini and destroy our enemies, both internal and external ! Sacred Music is Nada Yoga !

The Tenfold Verse about Enlightenment

These verses deal with the Absolute Self. Written by the ace philosopher, Sankara, these verses are the verses of Enlightenment, the Voice of the Self that It is the Sole Witness Consciousness which transcends the triune states - waking, dreaming and dreamless sleep.

Na Bhoomir na Thoyam na Thejo na Vayu,
Na Kham Nendriyam vaa na Thesham samooha,
Anaikanthikathwath Sushupthyeka Siddha,
Thadekovasishta Shiva Kevaloham.

Earth and water I am not
Neither wind nor light
Not ether nor the organs of sense
I am not a combination of these
Because they are only relatively real
That which remains after Negation
That Consciousness, Absolute Self, I am

Na varna, na Varnasramachara Dharma,
Na me dharana Dhyana Yogadhayopi,
Anathmasrayo aham Mamadhya Sahanath,
Thadekovasishta Shiva Kevaloham.

I am not the Caste rules, nor caste itself
I am not the Stages Four of Life
I dont personify rules nor just conduct
Meditation I am not nor Yoga
They are illusory before Self
That which remains after Negation
That Consciousness, Absolute Self, am I

Na matha pitha vaa na Deva na Loka,
Na veda na yagna na Theertham Bruvanthi,
Sushupthou nirasthadhi Shoonyath Makathwath,
Thadekovasishta Shiva Kevaloham

Mother and father are not me
Neither Earth nor Heaven
Not the Vedas me, nor the sacrifice of Fire
Nor the holy waters
Which they say exist in dreamless sleep
Void also is not in sleep
That which remains after Negation
That Consciousness, Absolute Self, I am

Na Sankhyam na Saivam na Thath Pancha Rathram,
Na Jainam, na Meemamskader Matham vaa,
Visishtanubhoothya Vishudhath maka Thwath,
Thadekovasishta Shiva Kevaloham.

I am not the wisdom of Sankhya
Nor the path of Shaiva
Pancha Ratra principle I am not
Nor Jainism personified
I am not Vedanta, I am not Karma
Self alone is Absolute Realtiy
That which remains after Negation
That Consciousness, Absolute Self, am I

Na shuklam na krishnam na Raktham na Peetham,
Na Peenam na Kubjam na Hruswam na Deergam,
Na roopam thadajyothir akara thathvath
Tade kova shishtah Shiva Kevaloham

White nor black, Red nor yellow
I am not !
Large or thin not I am
Neither tall nor short
Formless, beyond all shapes
I am the essence of Light !
That which remains after Negation
That Consciousness, Absolute Self, am I

Na jagranna me swapnako vaa sushupthi,
Ne viswo na vaa thaijasa pragnako vaa,
Avidhyathmakathwath trayanam thureeyam,
Thadekovasishta Shiva Kevaloham.

The relative states triune
Waking, dreaming & dreamless sleep I am not
Earthly feelings I am not
Nor the exalted feelings in dreams
The feelings of wakefulness in sleep
I am not, as these are Nescience
The Fourth, Transcendence, am I
That which remains after Negation
That Consciousness, Absolute Self, am I

Na sastha na sasthram na Sishyo na Siksha,
Na cha thwam, na cha aham na cha Ayam Prapancha,
Swaroopavabadhadhi vikalapa sahishnu,
Thadekovasishta Shiva Kevaloham.

The Origin of Knowledge I am not
Nor Encyclopedia itself
I am neither Teacher nor disciple
I am not this world
Nor you nor me
Inner Realisation is something else
That which remains after Negation
That Consciousness, Absolute Self, am I

Na chordhwam na chadho na cha Andhar na bahyam,
Na madhyam na thiryang na poorva paraddik,
Viyad vyapakathwath Akandaika Roopa,
Thadekovasishta Shiva kevaloham.

I am neither Below nor Above
I am not Inside or Outside
Middle I am not, nor across
Neither the west nor east
In pervade everywhere
Like ether omnipresent
That which remains after Negation
That Consciousness, Absolute Self, am I

Api vyapakathwadhi Thathwa prayogath,
Swatha sidha Bhavananya Ashrayathwath,
Jagat thuchamethath Samastham Thadanya,
Thadekovasishta Shiva Kevaloham.

Goal oriented, all pervasive
Depending on its own nature
Than anything external
World appears ephemeral
Different as it is from Self
That which remains after Negation
That Consciousness, Absolute Self, am I

Na chaikam thadanyath Dwitheeyam kutha syath,
Na chaa kevalathwam na vaa kevalathwam,
Na soonyam na chaa soonyamadvaidhakathwath,
Kadam sarva vedhatham sidham braveemi

Unique nor not unique It is not
Vaccum or different thing it again is not
The Essence of Non-dual Reality
Can it be defined ?
Which is established by Wisdom
That which remains after Negation
That Consciousness, Absolute Self, am I

The Reader's Heaven !

Is there a consolation in Philosophy ? In the mirages of Metaphysics ? If not, why do people turn to Wisdom ?

Boethius wrote the Consolations of Philosophy, De Consociation Philosohiae. It is Wisdom which alone can comfort Man !

Why do people read Books ? Do they find pleasure in reading ? Is there a Reader's Heaven, which scholars averr ?

Longfellow defended this view. He wrote

The scholar and the world, the endless strife
The discord in the harmonies of life,
The love of learning, the sequesterd nooks,
And the sweet serenity of books
The Marketplace, eager love for gain
Whose aim is Vanity, whose end is pain !

So it is better to be a scholar curled in his books than a bizman, who knows not what is mental peace !

There are a lot of New Age Articles here at
New Age Articles on Eastrovedica

The Jews, a mysterious and formidable race !

Four major doctrines, Christianity,Freemasonry, Capitalism and Communism originated from the Jews.

Jesus was a Jew. He contradicted the Mosaic Law and founded Christianity.

Freemasonry is based on Gnosticism, which is Christian Mysticism.  And Gnosticism is derived from the Kabbalah, which is Jewish Mysticism.

About Kabbalah, General Pyke wrote " All dogmatic religions originate from the Kabbalah and return to it. One is surprised while entering the Sanctuary of the Kabbalah, at finding the doctrine so simple, so logical and at the same time so absolute. " Freemasonry exists today as a Royal Science and as a Noble Art.

Capitalism - You will find some of the greatest capitalists amongst Jews. The Rockefellers, the Reynoldses, the Rothschilds, the Warburgs. the Soros et al.

Marx and Trotsky were Masons and Jews. International Communism was built up, so that its strength equalled the united strength of Dogmatic Theology.

The father of the Atom Bomb ( Oppenheimer ) was a Jew. So was Einstein. So was Ben Franklin, the man who founded the American Philosophical Society.

The world owes a lot to the Jews. Judaism is the Original Religion from which Chrisitanity and Islam originated.

The priesthood, the Black Brotherhood !

" The priest is a scoundrel ", said Khalil Gibran. The priesthood indoctrinate their flocks with fanaticism. " Our Religion is the greatest", "Our Prophet is the greatest" and our " Book is the greatest " are their slogans.

So no wonder we find a lot of fanatics today. People believe the mythological tales to be historical, with the result they clash amongst themselves over allegorical and symbolic stories.

Books like " The Davinci Code", " The Love in the East" and " The Satanic Verses " serve a good purpose. They give a clear message to the people, telling them to get rid of their fanaticism.

The God of the philosophers is not the God of Theology.

The priesthood talk about a jealous and vengeful God, sitting in some antisceptic corner of the cosmos, an extra-cosmic Deity. The Yogis talk about an Indwelling Presence, a principle which works from within and a Principle which gives Divine guidance

There is conflict when Philosophy meets Theology. " We are dealing with a full size World Mystery here and a fight between the Black and White Brotherhoods ". said Frater Achad.

The Theory of Global Oneness !

We are all one, according to this Theory. All human beings are the same.

It is an " us against them" mentality which is responsible for all wars. We have forgotten that all are our brothers and sisters.

We think we are good and our enemies are bad. Such a mentality will plunge us in war.

Remember what Shakespeare said " There is nothing good or bad in this world, but thinking makes it so ". It is our erroenous thinking that " we are right and they are wrong" which is the cause of all wars.

Only the Theory of Global Oneness can save humanity ! Remember what Plato said " Those who are caught up in the morasses of multiplicity are not philosophers ".

Evangelism, the root cause of all ills !

When we survey World Philosophy, we find that there are four major world views.

Secular Humanism

Egalitarianism

Cosmic Humanism

Evangelism

Secular Humanism consists of Atheism and Agnosticism. Atheists are people who deny God. Agnostics say that Reality is Unknown and maybe Reality exists, but That is not known to the human mind.

Egalitarianism - This is Marxism, aiming at an egalitarian society. According to Marx, society is an organic unity that is dialectially interrelated to the economic conditions. The materialistic conception of history indicates the struggle of Being for Self- Realisation through the well known three phase dialectic - of Thesis, Antithesis and Synthesis.

Cosmic Humanism - This doctrine is similar to Secular Humanism. The only difference is the postulate of a Self, which exists in all human beings.

His great transparent mirror, Self !

We are all parts of the One Universal Substance which constitute the universe. The mystic tie binds all men into Brotherhood. Also all the elements of the Universe into the Unity behind diversity.

Evangelism - This doctrine states that some "Religions are superior" to other "inferior Religions" and people belonging to the " inferior religions " should be converted into the "Superior Religions ". There are millions of evangelists and these people create schism in soceity. All dogmas belong to Evangelism, which is the bane of this world. Those who follow Evangelism becomes fundamentalists and fanatics and they are the problem causers of this world. They label the earlier Universal Philosophy ( which existed even before the birth of their religions ) as " Paganism" and their theological doctrines as " Anti-Paganism". This Anti Paganism is responsible for the world's present malady. They also talk about Love, but then Love without Scientific Philosophy is superstition.

Philosophy without Love is madness
Love without Philosophy is superstition.

This is where Universal Love steps in, along with Universal Wisdom. The world can only be united under Universal Love & Brotherhood. The salvation of the world is in Love and through Love !

The fallacy of Creationism !

Theology states that God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh The priesthood do not believe in the Law of Evolution, which states that man evolved from the apes. This transvaluation instigated by Charles Darwin robbed man of the privilege of having been specially created.

From a broader philosophical perspective, we can say that the Lord did not create the world. He became this world. He is all this. " All this is Brahman alone, all this magnificent Universe" averrs the Upanishads.

The sum total Energy in the Universe is an absolute constant and does not change. This is the Universal Being, which knoweth no destruction. " Know that to be imperishable by which all this is pervaded" says the Geetha.

Dr Erasmus Darwin drew inspiration from the Theory of Reincarnation and the Theory of the Ten Incarnations of Lord Vishnu.  The first incarnation was that of a fish, indicating that life came from the sea and that our ancestors were aquatic. The summum bonum is the Enlightened One, the Buddha. Finally Charles Darwin, his grandson, established the Law of Evolution in his Origin of the Species.

While on the absolute plane there is no destruction, forms are changing on the relative plane. Matter exists in three forms - solid, liquid and gaseous. Nothing ever begins to be. It only undergoes a transformation into conditions which preexisted in other conditions. Ice when heated becomes water, which when heated becomes steam, which when cooled becomes water, which when cooled becomes ice again. So on the relative plane, forms only undergo transformation.

The Theory of Reincarnation - Symblic of the Evolution of Consciousness

The Theory of Reincarnation states that the Soul takes successive births and evolves to the Absolute, the Godhead, through the Evolution of Consciousness. Life does not, at physical birth, begin to be. It merely enters physical conditions and assumes physical guise.

There are three types of men

The Animal Man - Here Consciousness is on the animal level. Hence we find criminals and crackpots in society.

The Human Man - Here Consciousness is on the human level. Man is all mixed, viz, Virtue and Vice are mixed in him

The Divine Man - Here Consciousness is on the Divine level. He had achieved union with the Absolute Self.

The Evolution of Consiousness begins from Animal Man and ends in Divine Man.

The Theory of the Ten Incarnations is also symbolic. It depicts the journey of the Soul from the unicellular amoeba to the Enlightened Man.

Be the Enlightened Man, the Divine Man, is the message of Transcendental Wisdom !

The Ninefold Elemental Theory

Kanada, the father of Visheshika system of Indian Philosophy, propounded the Fivefold Atomic Theory long before Dalton and the Ninefold Elemental Theory.

The Ninefold Elemental Theory

The entire Universe is made up of Nine Elements - The Elemental Five - earth, water, fire, ether, air plus the four elements - Time, Space, Self and Mind.

Mind is finer matter in vibration. What is Mind ? Never matter. What is Matter ? Never Mind !

Mind is a steady stream of thoughts. Mind creates Reality, yet Mind veils Reality. Indeed Mind is omnipotent.

Everything is internalised and externalised
By that arch villain, Mind !
From the Macrocosm to the Microcosm
All this is Mind !
Know all this to be Non Self
Know all this to be Non Being
Like the blueness in the sky
Like the water in the mirage
So is this visible Universe
In Self Supreme, Absolute !

Self is an utter Being and all these are its Becomings

This visible Universe
Is verily the Self !

What Nature hath buried
Is the living lordly Self
The unfolding of this Self
Is the process of Education

The Fivefold Atomic Theory

Matter is made up for five types of atoms - the aerial atoms, the igneous atoms, the aqueous atoms, the etheric atoms and the terrene atoms.

Know Thyself is the motto of Eastrovedica !

Philosophers tell us that we dont know ourselves.

Our negative aspect is always in conflict with our positive aspect. Hence this maxim " Know Thyself" assumes great significance.

Atmanam Viddhi is the message of the mighty Upanishads. In Latin Nosche te ipsum !

What is the use of anything in this world if we dont know the Self ?

It is not for the husband's sake that husband is loved. It is not for the wife's sake that wife is loved. It is for the sake of the Self !( Atmanasthu kamaya sarvam priyam bhavathi ).

This Self is to be known and experienced. The Self, when known, everything is known ! (Atmano va are sravanena darshanena matya vijnanena idam sarvam viditham ).

Alexander Pope was not wrong when he said

Know then thyself, presume not God to scan

The proper study of Mankind is Man !

Placed in the isthmus of a middle state

A being rudely wise and darkly great

With too much knowledge for the sceptic's side

And too many weaknesses for the Stoic's pride

He hangs between !

Leela, a better term than Maya !

Berkeley denied the existence of Matter. Esse est percipii, perception is essence, Mind is the Substance !

Mentalism postulates that all this is Mind !

Mentalism is essentially Illuisionism, as Mind can conjure up only Illusions ! It is Mind alone which veils Reality !

Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi's philosophy can be called Illusionism or Mentalism. He advised everybody to abide as the Self. ( " In the infinite sky of Consciousness, the Sun of Self Realisation shines bright and brilliant. Disperse the cloud of Ego obstructing the moonlight of Consciousness and the bud of Truth begins to blossom. It is the only Absolute. There is no other. The Absolute Brahman becomes so the say  the Cosmic Mind and spreads this world. As it thinks, so it becomes. It is the Lord of Creation. Dissolve the Mind by thinking about its real nature. Be beyond the dualities of attraction and repulsion. The Self fills the Universe, being colourless, timeless and spaceless"- Paul Brunton. )

Aurobindo was a Realist. He asseverated that Maya is Real. " Maya is real, because it is the Self's experience of the Self". He averred that Leela, meaning the cosmic play of the Divine, is a better term than Maya. "Leela includes the idea of Maya and exceeds it ", said He. Leela is His play, Himself the play, Himself the player, Himself the playground ! His play which creates and recreates Himself in Himself for the sheer bliss of that self-creation !

Anandam Brahma. Anandena imani bhoothani jayante, anandena jathena jeevanthi, anandam prayantyabhi samvishanti !

( Bliss is Brahman. All exist in Bliss, all are created in Bliss and all devoured in Bliss ).

She flings forth from Him in ecstasy, only to find Him playing in Time, She and He, two in one, inseparable. The entire Universe is nothing but She ! "Sarvam Khalvidam eva aham, nanyadasthi sanathanam" declared She in the Devi Bhagavatam. She deludes even the minds of the Rishies or the Seers and is divine in Her infinite origin.

The Transcendental Truth

Kurt Godel's Incompleteness Theorem in Maths points out that Reality cannot be represented by any finite, symoblic structure and that it is transcendental ! Truth goes beyond the finite to Infinitude ! He has reached across the ages to the Seer Poets who proclaimed that the Infinite Reality can be experienced as I AM THAT !

Emersons' Poem "Brahma"

Ralph Waldo Emerson

If the red slayer think he slays,
Or if the slain think he is slain,
They know not well the subtle ways
I keep, and pass, and turn again.

Far or forgot to me is near,
Shadow and sunlight are the same,
The vanished gods to me appear,
And one to me are shame and fame.

They reckon ill who leave me out;
When me they fly, I am the wings;
I am the doubter and the doubt,
And I the hymn the Brahmin sings.

The strong gods pine for my abode,
And pine in vain the sacred Seven;
But thou, meek lover of the good!
Find me, and turn thy back on heaven.

The Absolute Self as Timeless & Spaceless Existence

There are definitions for Self, Non Self and the Discriminative Intellect in the First Science.

The Non Self is defined

Everything from the Macrocosm, the Universe
To everything in the Microcosm, Man !
All emotions, all thought processes,
Is called the Non Self, O Noble One !

The Discriminative Intellect is Prajna and it is defined thus

That which distinguishes the Real from the Unreal
That which recognises the Self ultimately
That which differentiates Being from Non Being
Such an intellect is Prajna, O Noble One !

The Self is defined thus

Attributeless, actionless, eternal
Devoid of thoughts, forms
Without emotions, without persona
Ever liberated is the Self Absolute !

These three definitions are the base of the First Science, the Philosophia Prima

Truth is Omnipresent !

We are Truth seekers, but Truth always eludes us. By Truth is meant Absolute Truth, Cosmic Truth, Universal Truth.

To some, Truthful existence is suffering. Somebody wrote

Truth on the scaffold
Wrong on the throne

We find that Truthful existence is painful and difficult. Truth always puts us in a controversial situation. Imagine the lifes of Socrates, Jesus, Bruno & Mansoor. They were martyred because of Truth.

But poets say Truth is omnipotent. Let us listen to Swinburne

Truth only is living
Truth only is Whole
His for only giving
Man's polestar and pole !

or Aurobindo

For Truth is wider, greater than her forms
A thousand icons they have made of her
And they find her in the idols they adore
But she remains herself and infinite !

or Gandhi

Truth will win ultimately.

In our search for Truth, may be we confuse perspective with Truth. Maybe what our enemies say about us may be true. Are they saying falsehoods ? Yes, Truth is wider !

Philosophically, Truth is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. Truth is all this. It is only our Ego which prevent us from actualising Truth !

Hegel's Three Phase Dialectic

Thesis, Anti-Thesis and Synthesis - this the the three phase dialectic.

Thesis - The Absolute is Being

Anti- Thesis - The Absolute is Becoming

Synthesis The Absolute is Nothing

And what is the Absolute? It is one immutably homogenous Infinite !

The Absolute is 'Pure thought thinking about pure thought ' said Hegel.

The Hegelian Absolute has its critics. Somebody said "The Absolute is Absolute nonsense ".

The Hymn of Cosmic Consciousness !

In the void of Mind involute
The fleeting Universe rises and floats
And sinks back into the current " I "

wrote Vivekananda. Where only the Universal "I" is and nothing else is !

I am the Silence which is more than sound
If therewithin thou lose thee, thou art found!
The nameless, shoreless ocean which is "I"
Thou canst not breathe but in its bosom drowned !

wrote Tennyson.

Cosmic Consciousness is a state wherein there is Pure Awareness, Awareness of Being, Knowledge and Bliss !

SCI & TM

The Transcendental Meditation technique is a powerful relaxation technique. TM triggers the Relaxation Response.

TM can take you to higher levels of Consciousness. The Fourth State of Consciousness, Transcendental Consciousness, becomes accessible to the TMer.

Continous practice can lead you to Cosmic Consciousness. It is better to learn this from a bona fide TM teacher.

TM has centers all over the world.

Everything is He !

He is Timeless & Time. He is Spaceless and all that is in Space. He is the Causality and the Cause and the Effect. Brahman, the Iswara, is all this by His Yoga Maya. For we find the Being turns into Becoming and is always Itself and other than its Becomings. The Universal individualises itself and the Individual universalises itself.

Mythology is symbolic, never literal !

Carl Gustav Jung was a genius. He declared that all Mythology, including Christian Mythology, is symbolic and allegorical and not literal.

A disciple of Freud, Jung came across a fanstastic discovery. He was researching on the dreams of some of his patients. He wrote the figures seen by his patients and saw that they bear a close resemblance to the figures seen in Alchemy and Astrology.

He postulated that dreams are projections of the Unconscious.

He postulated that The Ocean of Reality resembles an ocean. The waves are the individual egos. Deep within the gross level is the subtle level. The subtle level of an individual ego he called the Personal Unconscious and the rock bottom of the Ocean of Reality is the Collective Unconscious, known as Brahman, the Absolute, in transcendental philosophy !

Henry David Thoreau

" In the early hours of the morning, I bathe in my intellect in the stupendous and cosmogonal philosophy of the Geetha, before which the modern world appears puny & trivial."
Thoreau can be said to be Gandhi's Guru. It was Thoreau's book " The Civil Disobedience " which gave Gandhi the inspiration to launch the Non-violent Movement. It is said that Gandhi brought back from America what was fundamentally the philosophy of India, after it was baked in the mind of Thoreu !
His masterpiece ' The Walden" has 18 chapters, modelled after the 18 chapters of the Geetha and the 18 parvas of the Mahabharatha.
He was truly the American Sage. Whitman, Emerson and Thoreau are the Trinity of American Transcendentalism !
His famous quote " When the law of the land is against the Law of Conscience, the best place for a man is jail " !

The Song of Myself by Walt Whitman

Turning to the Inmost God is what is called " Vibhakthi ", or worshipping the Absolute Self, knowing that I am Thee ! Vibhakthi in Sanskrit corresponds to the Amor Intellectualis ( Intellectual Love ) of Bruno. We are One. Only through Vibhakthi, Intellectual Love, Amor Intellectualis can the world be saved !

Walt Whitman wrote

Swiftly I shrivel at the thought of God
At Nature and her wonders, Space, Time & Death
Then I turn to Thee, O Actual Me,
Lo ! Thou gently mastereth the orbs,
Thou matest with Time, smilest content with Death
And fillest swellest the vastnesses of Space !

The great poet Melpathur also wrote about the Absolute Self thus

In reality I am Thyself
For me there is no binding
By Nature's triune attributes
Nor Salvation; as Nescience

It is that binds the Absolute Self !
The Individual Soul Thou art, all Thou art,
Thou art the Intelligence visible, Nature,
Nothing exists without Thee

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Emerson was a transcendentalist. He and other intellectuals founded the Transcendental Club. Carlye gave him a copy of the Geetha. Influenced by it, he founded the Concord Movement.
His poem Brahma shocked the Western world. He sang the glory of the Absolute Self !
If the red slayer thinks he is slain
Or if the slain thinks he is slain
They know not the subtle ways
I keep, tread and pass again
Far and forgot to me is near
Sunlight and shadow are the same
The vanished gods to me appear
For one to me are shame and fame !
They reckon ill who leave me out
But when me they fly, I am the wings!
I am the doubter and the doubt
And I the hymn the Brahmin sings !

The strong gods pine for my abode
And pine in vain the Sacred Seven
And thou meek lover of the Good
Retrace and turn thy back on Heaven !

Hegel

Hegel built so great an edifice that it encompassed the entire realm of human knowledge.
His main postulates are
The Absolute is Being (Thesis )
The Absolute is Becoming ( Antithesis )
The Absolute is Nothing
The Absolute is spiritual ( Synthesis )
And what is the Absolute ? It is One immutably homogenous Infinite.

Bruno - The Western Sankara !

Giordano Bruno was a non-dualist or an Advaitist. To him the Universe was an integral Whole.

"This entire globe, this star, not being subject to death, and dissolution and annihilation being impossible anywhere in Nature, from time to time renews itself by changing and altering all its parts. There is no absolute up or down, as Aristotle taught; no absolute position in space; but the position of a body is relative to that of other bodies. Everywhere there is incessant relative change in position throughout the universe, and the observer is always at the center of things." ( De la Causa, principio et uno, On Cause, Principle, and Unity) .

His philosophy was similar to the philosophy of the great Sankara, who maintained that the sum total energy in the Universe is an absolute constant and that Absolute Constant is divine !

When Bruno said that annihilation was impossible in Nature, he was confirming what scientists call the Law of Conservation of Energy or Matter. The Universe, in its aspect as Matter or Energy, can neither be created nor destroyed and all Universal Matter is One.

Many philosophers were inspired by Bruno's idea of Universal Unity. Sankara in the Orient also propounded this theory of Non-dualism or Monism. The great Max Muller said on his deathbed " If I believe in anybody in this world, it is Sankara of the East ".

Our salutations to Bruno for highlighting this idea of Universal Unity. Let this idea of Universal Unity end in World Peace, in a World Government !

To quote John J Kessler Phd, who wrote about Bruno " He is one martyr whose name should lead all the rest. He was not a mere religious sectarian who was caught up in the psychology of some mob hysteria. He was a sensitive, imaginative poet, fired with the enthusiasm of a larger vision of a larger universe ... and he fell into the error of heretical belief. For this poets vision he was kept in a dark dungeon for eight years and then taken out to a blazing market place and roasted to death by fire.

It is an incredible story.

Song of the SELF !

I am neither Mind, Intellect or Ego

Becoming as the Triad

Being conditioned is Becoming. Becoming is the triad of Universe, Soul & Supreme. All this is a play of the Absolute Self, willed by the Self in its totality and perpetually entertained.

Self Actualisation !

Kant's greatest achivement was that he found Space, Time and Causality are modes of thought, but Vedanta knew it long ago and called it Maya.

The Universe is seen as Mirror; I AM THE SELF !
Like when a sleeper wakens from the dream state !
This, they say,is the experience of Enlightenment
Which is only possible due to Master's Grace !
